About the Book

From a licensed marriage and family therapist, this empathetic book is the key to achieving secure relationships with your loved ones and breaking away from painful patterns. Our individual attachment style is a key indicator of the health of every one of our relationships. Yet few people know what their style is, much less what steps they need to take to move out of a harmful style and into one that creates safer, healthier, and mutually beneficial relationships. Thankfully, the concept of "attachment" has been gaining steam over the last decade so that "attachment theory" and its therapeutic model have entered into current conversations about mental health-and Marc Cameron has emerged as a leader in this space. The successor to How We Love, the organization created by key psychologists Milan and Kay Yerkovich, Marc Cameron builds upon the Yerkovichs' groundbreaking book about attachment theory, How We Love (over 400,000 copies sold) to show you how to identify and understand the style of attachment you developed in childhood. In this book, Cameron thoroughly explains each attachment style and provides easy methods for you to self-identify with one style (...or multiple!). He also delivers practical steps for forming a secure attachment style, giving you the information and guidance you're seeking to improve your inner worlds and relationships. Understanding Your Attachment Style will not only help you understand your attachment style but also guides you through overcoming barriers associated with each style so that you can enjoy the healthy, loving connections you were designed for.

About the Author :
Marc Cameron is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the co-leader of How We Love, an organization founded by Milan and Kay Yerkovich that extends awareness of Attachment Theory for better relationships and mental health. He also regularly co-hosts New Life Live, America’s top Christian counseling call-in radio program with an audience of over 2 million listeners each week. Marc Cameron provides therapy at his own practice, and he has a particular passion for working with couples and families using an attachment-based approach and believes that through the development of secure attachments, people can create stronger, more fulfilling relationships. In his work, he helps people learn how to communicate more effectively and build trust and connection with one another to help them improve their relationships and become healthy, thriving families that pass on a legacy of relational health to their children. By using a proven evidence-based attachment approach to help his clients gain insight into the forces that drive their behaviors and impact their relationships they can take steps to implement sustained growth. Marc was born and raised in London, England, and completed his master’s in Counseling Psychology at Trinity International University in Miami, Florida. He also holds a Business degree from Huntington University in Huntington, Indiana. Marc is certified in EMDR therapy which is an evidenced based practice for treating PTSD and trauma.

Review :
Combining rigorous psychological analysis with practical tools, Cameron constructs a valuable program wherein readers can acknowledge their developmental harms without being defined by them. Readers looking to improve their relationships with themselves and others will find plenty of insight.--Publishers Weekly "Marc Cameron's Understanding Your Attachment Style is a rare gem that combines clinical insight with practical wisdom for real transformation. No book I've ever read has given me as clear and rich an understanding of my own personal attachment patterns and where they derived. Cameron masterfully translates complex attachment theory into actionable steps, backed by solid neuroscience research on how we can develop earned secure attachment through intentional practice. His honest examination of his own journey adds authenticity without overwhelming the clinical framework. This isn't superficial self-help--it's the kind of deep, sometimes uncomfortable work that creates lasting change. I recommend this powerful resource to colleagues and anyone ready to choose the pain of growth over the pain of staying stuck." --Anna Yusim, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor, Yale Medical School, Co-Founder, Yale Mental Health & Spirituality Program "Marc Cameron has a way of making complex theories understandable and actionable. He has done that for attachment styles in a way that helps people understand their relational struggles and apply the solutions for improvement. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants more harmony in their homes." --Dr. Alice Benton, PsyD Author of Understanding and Loving Your Child in a Screen-Saturated World "As a friend and colleague who's had the privilege of seeing Marc Cameron's work up close, I am excited to endorse Understanding Your Attachment Style! It reflects both his deep clinical expertise and his genuine heart for helping people heal and grow. Marc has a rare gift for making complex psychological concepts accessible and relatable, without ever losing their depth. This book isn't just informative -- it's a compassionate companion for anyone wanting to understand themselves and their relationships more clearly. If you've ever felt stuck in patterns you couldn't explain, Marc's insights will feel like a light turning on."--Becky Brown, President, NewLife, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor "I can't wait to share this book with my clients! Marc Cameron synthesizes and conveys attachment style understanding into user friendly application. Using everyday language with easily relatable examples and analogies, he draws the reader into both a head and heart connection, teaching that secure attachment growth is possible. Thank you, Marc, for this, must have resource!"--Jill J. Hubbard, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Author, and New Life Live radio cohost "In every generation, only a few books ever reach the 'this is a life transforming book.' Understanding Your Attachment Style is that book for me. I felt like I was getting insight and wise counsel from one of the finest counselors I know on every page. Marc's amazing ability to communicate complicated life experiences into meaningful and practical insight is brilliant. I am already connecting better with my wife, my family, and my co-workers because of understanding why I act the way I act. There is not a counselor in the world who would not benefit from this book, and I know the impact will be transforming in homes everywhere."--Jim Burns, PhD, Founder, HomeWord, Author of Doing Life with Your Adult Children: Keep Your Mouth Shut and the Welcome Mat Out "Our Christian counseling staff and team at Focus welcome sound and psychologically astute approaches like Marc's, which cooperate in our ministry's quest to help individuals and marriages thrive in Christ.
