About the Book

Charley was a true Native American leader who changed the Ohio valley during the expansion of a new American. His has been misidentified, debated and considered by some a mystery. Involved with famous American's such as George Washington, William Henry Harrison, Patrick Henry left clues to his origins and families past. These contacts both elevating his status and helped to hide his identity as he became a liability to some and a hero to others. Our story walks the reader from the tribal origins and struggles on the Eel River near Plymouth, their move to the Delmarva Peninsula and Jamestown. Part of the Powhatan Confederacy and a descendant of one of his daughters, a sister to Pocahontas. The other side members of Ancient Planters his family would split into two distinct branches. One following a simple life with a clear purpose, the other caught in the political and greed of merchants, traders and land speculators. The growth of the colonies and the birth of a new nation pushed them westward into the land which nearly become a 14th colony. The Vandalia in a section called Indiana, would also lead to the name of a new territory and location of their last stand. During the Revolutionary War a single shot fired, not the one heard around the world but one that change his life. He would find himself on a new sides of the conflict and forced to make a choices that would change the Ohio valley. The land they loved, eventually taken by merchants and government agents intent on closing the last frontier east of the Mississippi. They hid his existence for personal gain. His descendants were murdered, impersonated and hidden by those focused on taking all he had and all his family would ever have or be. This is the story of his life and a legacy that needs corrected.
