About the Book

Snarky Medieval Satire Play for 9 M, 8 F, 5-10+ Townspeople. "The road may take turns you do not expect it to, but that is how this life moves. Make do with the twists and turns, and you'll find yourself taking a far better road than the one you set off to take. Blessings to you, my son" Mere days after returning from a five-year absence from the king's court, Sir Galahad is informed by the king and queen that a suitor is urgently needed for the princess, as the king is dying. Sir Galahad agrees to the marriage, sending him on a medieval quest of epic proportions in order to prove his worth to marry the beautiful Princess Jacqueline. But perhaps the hardest obstacles for Sir Galahad have nothing to do with the dangers that be - first, an evil knight has also taken up the quest for Jacqueline's hand and will abuse the throne were he to win it and second, Sir Galahad has caught the eye of one Lady Heron - the castle's royal messenger - and she may have caught his as well. What's a knight to do? What's a brave, handsome knight to do? Knights of the Square Table is the debut work by independent nationwide playwright Peter Fenton and is best suited for high school, collegiate, community, or professional theater groups. (The ambitious middle school theater group is also encouraged to take on this play!) Knights of the Square Table may not be performed in part or whole in any medium on professional or amateur levels without written licensing from Hummingbird Skits. Send all inquiries to hummingbirdskits@gmail.com This play may be used in a classroom setting for educational purposes in all circumstances.

About the Author :
Peter Fenton has been writing plays since he was just fourteen. The middle school play he was part of in eighth grade inspired him to write his own play and he immediately began writing, which culminated in sold-out performances of this first play in his hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In the process, he fell in love with the art of writing dialogue and kept writing and observing human interaction, as he chose to study Interpersonal Communication at Wheaton College in Illinois. In addition, he has worked as a summer camp counselor, toured Europe as a band videographer, and sung bass in the Wheaton College Men's Glee Club. "I write from the same place in my heart that I counseled summer camp: telling imaginative new stories propelled by sharp wit and whimsical enthusiasm coming straight from my heart. I hope my writing never takes itself too seriously but rather, takes joy in the little world it creates. I seek to tell a new collection of comedy fairy tales for a twenty-first century audience: the endings are not meant to shock: good ultimately wins, but not without a couple postmodern curveballs along the way. I love providing this brand of storytelling for pleasure readers, English classes, high school theater, experimental collegiate theater, and community theater (Ambitious middle school theater programs are also always encouraged!)"
