About the Book

A professional storyteller, registered nurse, and Buddhist, Payne applies all of her experience to present a comprehensive view of life and death. The book opens with an explanation in prose and poetry of why she calls death the ultimate wonder. Divided into two sections, themes and tellings. Teachers, parents, spiritual and hospice workers will find background information in themes on all of the stories to enable them to choose the best stories for specific situations. The tellings are grouped for the following audiences, women, veterans, lovers, and families. Written with the teller as a character, the reader receives an experience of attending a live storytelling performance. From the moment of birth, all share the same destiny few care to discuss or think about. Payne removes fear and encourages exploration and conversation through retold world stories and original stories. These stories offer a positive outlook on our ultimate wonder.

About the Author :
Skywalker Storyteller Payne is a professional oral storyteller, nurse, and writer. Third World Press published her first book of poetry, "I Am that We May Be," under the name Damali Bashira, Bringer of Good Tidings of a Beautiful Vision. She has led an eclectic, gypsy life. Living in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Il, New York City, Austin, TX, and Greenville, SC she worked as a newspaper editor, feature writer, and performance artist. In Denver, Colorado Skywalker married Brian C. Payne, creator of Zinc Comics, and earned her BA in storytelling. They moved to Des Moines, IA and opened Darshan Studios Comic Art Museum and Storytelling Theatre. As a nurse, Skywalker worked in the Navajo and Hopi nations in Arizona. Now a resident in Homer, Alaska, she helps individuals and groups find and tell their stories. Her first Kindle, "Illimitable Beauty," a novella, explores a woman's self-discovery into her creative expression. "All That Is, Dance of Mindfulness & Gratitude - A Quest for Wholeness" provides personal and objective information of the self-healing value of mindfulness and the on-going problems in the medical industry. Her newest book "breathing through the eye of a needle, stories of living in the moment from birth to death" is a collection of stories exploring death as the ultimate wonder.
