About the Book

With more than 650 full sized, easy to follow, movement by movement illustrations painstakingly cropped and sized for viewing simplicity, this handbook is the most definitive and complete guide to learning T'ai Chi published to date. You will find no infuriating arrows to simulate motion, or large gaps from one picture to the next leaving you to wonder, "How did they get from here to there?" All illustrations are presented in panoramic format so you can see every detail of movement. Every picture is accompanied with a simple description of what you are seeing. Traditional names for sequences and steps are included with modern analogies, so you get the Traditional Chinese flavor as well as practical understanding. Included is a complete index of techniques and movements for your convenience. Whether you are a beginner looking for detailed visual guide to learning T'ai Chi, or an advanced practitioner interested in the self-defense applications referenced throughout the illustrations, this handbook has something for you. Professor Nelson has been practicing Martial Science and Discipline since 1971, Chi Gong and Alternative Healing since 1979, was awarded title Sifu of Yang Style T'ai Chi in 1992 and has been teaching Jiu Ling Gong since 1998. He originated the T'ai Chi program in Hickory YMCA in 2000 and is first to teach T'ai Chi as P.E. in a local N.C. high school (2008-2010). Prof. Nelson has been teaching Martial Science and T'ai Chi Gong fulltime since 2003. Among other advanced martial ranks and awards, he received Menkyo Kaiden and title of Hanshi in 2008 and is a 10th Degree Black Belt of Kizoku-Ryu Kempo-Jutsu.
