About the Author :
Joyce Lankester Brisley was born in 1896 and studied art at Lambeth Art School. The first Milly-Molly-Mandy stories were published in 1925 in the Christian Science Monitor, and a first collection of these stories was published in book form in 1928. Milly-Molly-Mandy and Billy Blunt is the sixth and final book in the series. An accomplished artist as well as a writer, Joyce Lankester Brisley designed posters and book jackets and also illustrated the work of other authors. She died in 1978, but Milly-Molly-Mandy's popularity lives on.

Review :
each story is a miniature masterpiece, as clear, warm and precise as the illustrations by the author that accompanied them, crafted by a mind that understood the importance of comfort reading The nostalgic charm, gentleness and simplicity of the Milly-Molly-Mandy stories have stood the test of time and a new generation cannot help but fall in love with the spirit of adventure and the warm evocation of family life that are so central to this ordinary little girl’s life. Perfect for reading aloud, these thirteen stories will bring back happy memories for parents and grandparents, and introduce younger readers to a very ordinary but very special little girl! The Milly-Molly-Mandy books are gorgeous, gentle things, and in a world where that sort of thing seems somewhat hard to find, they shine. They really, really do.

A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
