About the Book

To the best of her recollection, Ruth began writing poetry when she was in the third grade. Her teacher proudly exhibited her first one on the bulletin board. Many were lost throughout the years as she only began keeping a journal of them in the early 1980s. She does not credit herself with being a poet. She asserts that the Holy Spirit whispers the words into her heart and spirit, and she merely writes them down. The Lord continues to gift her with more poetry which she hopes to share in a future printing. Ruth has experienced much emotional pain and trauma in her adult life. You will sense her pain in many of her poems. She is thankful that God has always had His hand upon her life. Example Poem: This Book The pages are worn; the cover is torn But how I love this Book It's been my life's companion Always there each time I look It poses many questions And each answer I can find It's filled with only God's own truths Oh, I'm so glad it's mine I wouldn't want to lose it Or let it gather dust It gives me strength for each new day So that my faith won't rust I never will mind sharing it With those I meet each day And if the Lord requires of me I'll give this Book away

About the Author :
Ruth Carey Powers grew up in Pamlico County on the east coast of North Carolina. She spent her childhood happily frolicking on her grandparent's farm. She treasures her childhood memories of being raised by whom she declares to be the kindest daddy who ever lived and her loving, God-fearing grandmother. She now resides in Picayune, Mississippi. She is Mama to two wonderful sons and Granny to two beautiful granddaughters. She has been blessed with three step-grandsons and two step-great-grandchildren. Ruth grew up in a small, remote farm community where everyone knew everyone, and most were related. Sunday school and church were a way of life. She gave her heart to Jesus at age of eight and followed through with baptism in the Bay River. She has always had a heart for the elderly and has been involved in four nursing home ministries, including Pathway Ministries which she began in early 2014.
