"Dicese, que habiendo oido Socrates a Platon la lectura del Lisis, exclamo: - Oh Dios!, cuantos prestamos me ha hecho este joven." He aqui otra tradicion que confirma la precedente y que es de forma mas agradable o ingeniosa: "Vio Socrates en suenos un cisne joven, acostado en sus rodillas, que, soltando sus alas, volo al momento, haciendo oir armoniosos cantos. Al dia siguiente, Platon se presento a Socrates y dijo este: -He aqui el cisne que yo he visto." Diogenes de Laercio nos dice tambien, que se aseguraba haber sido el Fedro el primer dialogo compuesto por Platon, y a ser verdadera esta tradicion de escuela, se explicaria perfectamente la exclamacion de Socrates y la narracion simbolica de su vision. Pero sea de esto lo que quiera, es un hecho cierto, plenamente confirmado por el examen intrinseco de los Dialogos, que durante los anos de su juventud, pasados bajo la disciplina de Socrates, Platon compuso cierto numero de dialogos, en los que, queriendo quiza limitarse a reproducir la doctrina de su maestro, su genio naciente se marchaba hacia regiones superiores. El Lisis y el Fedro pertenecen a este grupo, y una vez adquirido este resultado, como no ha de colocarse en la misma categoria toda la serie de dialogos en que el arte es menos delicado y mucho menos profundo, y cuya doctrina, sobre todo, esta mucho mas severamente contenida en los limites de la ensenanza socratica, tales como el Eutifron, el Criton, el Carmides, el Laques, el Protagoras, y el Primer Alcibiades y el gran Hipias, suponiendo que estos dos sean verdaderamente obra de Platon? He aqui por lo tanto un primer grupo de dialogos, a los que no se puede fijar seguramente con precision su fecha respectiva, pero que tomados en masa, puede ponerseles perfectamente aparte bajo el nombre de dialogos socraticos, en concepto de ser obras de la juventud y de la primera manera de Platon. _____________________________________ Nacido en Atenas de familia noble, Platon (427-347 a. C.) vio en la politica su ideal de vida, pero, segun dice el mismo, la convivencia con Socrates y su injusta condena a muerte le hicieron desistir de su ambicion para dedicarse a la filosofia. Sistematizo la teoria politica, que en su obra arranca de la injusticia cometida por la democracia con su maestro, las teorias cosmologicas de los presocraticos y el nuevo sesgo que habia imprimido en el pensamiento la confrontacion entre Socrates y los sofistas. Esta confrontacion tenia el interes de haber abandonado la observacion objetiva y el mundo externo para dedicarse a desentranar los procesos logicos de la razon y sus relaciones con la realidad."
