About the Book

"Mango Island Mischief" is the story of Manuela Prince, owner of the Viet Ong Nail Salon in Mango Island, and it's mascot Truman Capiggy. While on a quick early evening outing to see the sunset on the yacht "Luscious Lips," they are hijacked. Cleats, a dropout football player who still wears his signature whits cleats and Toot a very tiny swarthy fellow with a terrible gas problem, are their hijackers. The duo hatched a plan to get some money to start anew business venture; bottling Toots gas. They figured bottled gas was the was the next new fuel sine there was talk of natural gas pipelines etc, they decided to cash in on the idea. Manuela and Truman were taken to a deserted island in the Ten thousand Islands. A note left on the dock where the yacht was kept at the Yacht Yachta Yachta Club. Witten o n a paper sack in child like writing, the note wanted one million dollars by the next day, stuffed in a Folgers Coffee can and dropped by marker 88 in the Ten Thousand Islands. The note was found by Del Llicious, the night guard at the yacht cub. He took it to Private Investigator Clara Volant, a former fired astronaut who lived of her government pension and the few jobs she could drum up on peaceful Mango Island. He office was onMain street, but three flights up in a former broom closet .They decided not to involve the Mango Police because the note said "No cops or the girl and the pig are toast." Manuel's father, a former pot growers from Colombia, hires Clara and her assistant Trxie Bob Tiger, a Wapatootsi Indian. After much aggravation at the bank, they finally end up with the ransom but it won't all fit in the an and the bank doesn't keep that kind of cash around, so they settled for $5oo,000 in cash and the rest in a cashiers check that was made out to "to whom it my concern." Gator, the dock master and Roddy Reddy, owner of the fast boat "Smokin' Hot"along with the others dropped the ransom at the designated marker 88 in the The Thousand Islands. Manuela and tTruman are taken to a deserted camp with an abandoned Indian chickee During the time they are tied up, a thunder storm with lightning strikes the chikee, setting it ablaze. When Cleats and Tooty can't find their prisoners, they decide to flee in the rubber dingy " Fat Lips." Toot cuts off his pinky while releasing the dingy and passes out. Cleats gets them ashore and Toot to the mango Island Hospital where an entirely different adventure awaits them. Manuela and Truman escape on "Luscious Lips" only to discover they are lost in the many waterways of the maze of islands. Manuela's husband, exiled Prince Rupert of Scandinavia, returns form the Sahara Sand Trap Open with his caddy/manager Claudia Klinghoffer. They join Clara Volant and Manuel in their hunt for the missing duo. This humorous adventure story has many twists and turns as Manuela and Truman fight the elements, Cleats and Toot discover a different way of life and Manuel, Clara and Prince look for the missing pair.
