About the Book

RECONTACT ***** Earth is recontacted by long lost human relatives from space, who bring a terrible warning and aid to defend Earth from extermination by a Primeval threat spawned millennia ago by our forefathers. ***** The exciting first volume of Dr. Spaulding's Project Earth Trilogy is based on a plausible history of mankind, spanning millennia, starting far from Earth. It is peopled with individuals from many races whose lifetimes may span centuries in the tapestry of a Galaxy-wide community. These races were created in a period of space colonization and Genetic Engineering. That period also gave rise to non-human species, the Luminars, who wage interminable war against humans. This book peeks into that universe, from a closer perspective: Earth. We begin as an Expedition from the Galactic Alliance contacts Earth, warning us of an oncoming Luminar armada determined to exterminate human life on Earth. The visitors help mobilize Earth for the impending crises, and recruit a small but powerful detachment of warriors, ships, weapons, and critical components from the Alliance to mount a defense. Many people live in these stories. K'Him is a Galactic, with idealism and drive. His Consort is a delightful Aldebarnite Princess, Kh'Ryl, whom everyone seems to fall in love with. Their companion is a devilish Am'Rai sage, who can drive people to frustration. General Eleanor Langford is a modern-day heroine with hidden passions, and James Weston-Smith is a modern Aerospace executive with a style all his own. Colonel Claude Henri Gaspine fits a military stereotype, but there are others who are not so pleasant. Technology helps create some characters, including an intelligent spaceship with two personalities, Ka'Li and K'Him Other, that harbors and transports the visitors. The story is told from different perspectives, including Jon Carr, an omni-present newsman and ex-cop that offers a man-in-the-street view of events. Technology also created the Luminars: four-armed creatures descended from genetically engineered humans, with a surprising view of us. Recontact is 'Retro-Sci-Fi' in the tradition of the great fifties sci-fi stories with lots of fiction, a healthy taste of science, and a hint of fantasy. ***** KEYWORDS: First Contact, Space War, Interstellar society, Genetic Engineering ***** Volume One of the Trilogy Project Earth: A Lost Colony
