About the Book

Two Generations is the story of father and son. Father, Harold was born in 1899 in a small village in Gobles Michigan. Harold growing up years included his parents and five brothers and two sisters and home was a very small two bedroom house. This house lacked electricity and plumbing. It was a hard life as they were financially poor but so were the majority of the village families. Harold accepted the challenges and the necessary hard work needed to accomplish his goals. He worked his way through college, a track star and all of his activities molded him into a man of confidence and a leader. He was a multitask person. His career was in education, coaching high school sports and a politician. He touched lives. The story continues with Rick. His story includes falling in love with a girl named Carole at college. They were married during her Senior year. Rick's dream of Carole's senior year and proposing to her was shattered as he found himself in the U.S. Army. He struggled accepting this reality. He married Carole during her senior year right before sailing to Germany. After Carole's graduation, she flew to London to live with Rick in Germany. This is an incredible experience with lots of traveling in Europe and blessed having a wonderful German family. There were disappointments and tragedies. Their Alaskan cruise and Alaskan land travels are also included. Rick and his wife Carole's family and life story embody all that is good about our America, and remind of us of what is really important as we live each day. It gives us perspective on our country and its values over the past hundred years, and stirs in us a rededication to all that has made our country great...God, Family, Patriotism, and giving to help others. The Wilcox's live faithful and giving lives and I hope you'll find this book as inspiring as I have. Hank Rush, President & CEO, Star of Hope Mission Despite modern technological advances, life in the 21st century often feels fractured. Families increasingly become disconnected from one another because of life's demands. The Wilcox's tell the story of a slower time through the experiences of two generations of their family. It was not an easier time, but it was a time when families and communities stayed connected and helped one another. It is an enjoyable and inspiring read. Bob Johnson, Pastor, Chapelwood United Methodist Church Two Generations is not just the story of the Wilcox family, father and son. It is also a study of life in America for more than 100 years as seen through the lives of one family, ranging from basic pre-electricity and plumbing small-town life in the early 1900s to modern life in a large city, with all its conveniences, far from the family's original home town. This is a fascinating book of both personal and historical scope, showing how America has changed, anchored throughout with the core values that made the United States a great country; growth and success through hard work and caring. Jim Seitz, Audiobook narrator
