About the Book

The second book in the hilarious middle-grade adventure series The Clone Chronicles.

Fisher Bas and Two were able to thwart the evil Dr. X, but after somehow surviving the explosion at TechX Enterprises, Two is in Hollywood looking for his mother. Fisher must bring him back to Palo Alto before his cloning secret is discovered. When a class field trip to see the Dr. Devilish science show arises, it becomes the perfect opportunity for Fisher to find his clone. But all kinds of complications will get in the way--including Amanda Cantrell, who knows more than Fisher would like about Two's identity. As Fisher, FP, and Amanda team up to find Two, they find trouble, hijinx, and the return of an evil mastermind--all set in the glitz of Hollywood.

About the Author :
M. E. Castle is a writer and actor working in the glo-rious center of the universe, New York City. He graduated from Oberlin College in 2008 with a degree in theater and has written a number of short stories, only a handful of which have ever been seen by an audience wider than his closest friends. Throughout his college years, he was one of the leading writers of the noir detective radio drama The Dead Hear Footsteps, to which he also lent his vocal talents. Popular Clone is M.E.'s first novel. You can visit him online at www.theclonechronicles.com.

Review :

Fisher Bas and his clone, Two, are back for more action-packed fun.
Though surviving the explosion at TechX Industries and revealing Dr. X's evil plans have made Fisher an overnight celebrity at Wompalog Middle School (Popular Clone, 2012), life is still pretty complicated for the seventh-grader. When Fisher learns that Two is not only alive and well, but living the high life in Los Angeles, he must figure out how to reel his clone in before he inadvertently exposes their genetic secret. A surprise class trip brings Fisher to the City of Angels, where he teams up with his classmate Amanda Cantrell to find Two and bring him back to Palo Alto before it's too late. Like a funny James Bond for the middle school set, the close third-person narrative is rife with humor, adventure, gadgetry and even a hint of romance. Fans of the series and new readers alike will eagerly turn the pages as Fisher and Amanda elude school chaperones and government agents, making their way from studio sound stages to the Hollywood Bowl in search of Two. The heart of the story, however, is what makes this book special, and it resides with Fisher, who struggles mightily with his own sense of self-worth when faced with a mirror image of himself that seems to have it all.
A successful balance of fizz and substance.

In this follow-up to Popular Clone (Egmont USA, 2012), Fisher Bas is a scientific genius. His biggest creation is Two, a genetic replica of himself composed of AGH, a dangerous chemical compound stolen from his scientist mother. Government agents and evil inventor Dr. X are searching for him, Two, and the missing AGH. Fisher must warn Two, but the clone has hightailed it to Los Angeles. The middle-school biology class is invited to an L.A. taping of Strange Science with handsome Dr. Devilish as host. Fisher jumps at the chance. He is unwittingly joined by best friend FP, a genetically engineered flying pig. Meanwhile, Two has changed his name to Basley and is already getting famous-going to auditions and chumming it up with celebrities. With the help of his crafty classmate Amanda, Fisher searches the city for Two, all the while being pursued by shady, dark-suited men. He's mistaken for his clone look-alike by a scheming agent who wants to sign him and FP, and also by a flock of teenage worshippers. Things get really rough when all the characters receive mysterious notes asking them to report to Lot 44, or else. They end up as reality-show contestants on Sci-Fi: Survivor, pitted against monstrous metal dinosaurs and superhuman robots. Funny and adventurous with a theatrical flair, this story will keep readers turning pages. A fun, fast-paced romp. --School Library Journal
