A Matter of Conscience is a romantic thriller based around the conflict between Israel and Palestine.Through pure coincidence, a young Englishman who was bought up in Saudi Arabia meets an Israeli scientist at a university party and during their ensuing romance finds himself accidently placed in a position to bring great pressure on politicians who dictate the plight of millions of people.A fictional story that highlights one of the Worlds on going problems and some of the real facts surrounding it.Also a chilling reminder of how a small breach of security can escalate to enormous proportions.

About the Author :
Barry Crofford was born in the east end of London in 1947, soon after the end of the Second World war. London and the UK in general was slowly recovering from the ravages of war and life was very austere for most people. Many foods were still rationed and money was hard to come by, but the folk were in general cheerful and thankful that the nightmare of war with Germany was at an end. Although fortunate in many ways to be brought up in a private house, rather than a small flat on a council estate with no garden for fun and adventure and also to have the luxury of a bathroom, indoor toilet and even a fridge and later a telephone and TV, he always had a hankering for travel and to leave England's cold and windy shores. His ability to lead something of a double life by combining working for a large computer company and using his entrepreneurial flair to start various businesses in his spare time made him true to his birth sign of Gemini! Always being ready to pack up and move countries in search of a more fulfilling, interesting and profitable life, his first overseas posting was in Kenya, which was home for six years and gave him an insight into what life in the Colonial era was like and the privilege of enjoying its benefits for those years. After spending a further two years in South Africa, Barry's nomadic life style took him to Saudi Arabia, where unlike most of his co workers, he embraced the way of life and spent six years enjoying the climate that he likes best - hot and dry every day! His interest in Islam and Arabic began here and is reflected in this his first novel. His grandfather was a seafaring man and boasted having visited Australia no less than seventy two times in his life, which again influenced the author to find his shangri la, and he emigrated to that country with his family after leaving Saudi Arabia. Living now in the South of France, he still has the same interest in travel and learning about all life has to offer in cultures, religions and culinary delights!
