Return from Forever

Three daring but luckless young potholers fall headlong into a deep-flooded underground cavern. On surfacing, they discover sheer and soaking, slippery rock walls that form a yawning 'Well-shaped' chamber, offering no hollows, ridges or possible climbing holds to aid escape. Any hopes of being able to climb in an upward direction, from their abrupt, accidental confinement, would be out of the question. Escape looked impossible. The only light source available to them, provided by their three helmet lamps, relied heavily on rechargeable battery packs. If that power expired, the darkness alone would be by far the biggest enemy they would encounter. Prospects for escape after that blackout point would have to be miraculous. The trio had failed to leave any notice of their whereabouts on this trip. The realisation that this could turn out to be the most serious predicament they had ever experienced was very quickly recognised. Would they survive? ...Yes, but they would leave one life threatening dilemma, only to join up with a stream of extraordinary life changing events. Many twists and turns would see the three adventurers Trudy, Roger and Jim tested to limits they never thought they could reach. Experiencing events, far from the expectations of a simple potholing session, and ending up in the presence of a fantastic group of a hitherto unidentified species.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR "Return from forever" is Peter Imrie's first book. It was initially started years earlier, but stopped soon after, due to lack of inspiration. On his retirement, having more spare time, Peter took to writing again. Using the earlier created pages as a starting point. He read an article about 'Discovery writing.' In which a story is created, by allowing the opening events to drive forward the plot. Thus demanding from the writer, new follow up scenarios which when joined together, gradually build up a storyline. In the case of this book, Three young Potholers find themselves trapped in horrifying surroundings below ground. With bleak prospects of ever escaping alive. Having been ejected from a fragmenting ledge and thrown without warning into a deep, dark and deadly flooded Chamber. Intensifying the chilling ordeal was the knowledge that a very limited 'charge' was left in the battery packs powering their helmet-lamps. Pitch-black darkness was just a few desperate minutes away Peter was amazed at how, by turning his thoughts to seeking ways of escape for the victims, he would, not only find an exit route for them, but surprisingly bring into being, three more characters to add to the story. No overall plan had been previously formulated but very quickly it became clear that an absorbing theme was being shaped. New scenarios and characters seemed to spring up from the pages. as the consequences of each new addition, brought further scenes and characters into being. All working to shape the book's body and direction. This first book has ben a fascinating trip for Peter and in the end a complete, closely linked, story has evolved. With a beginning, middle and an end, which he hopes readers will enjoy as much as it has absorbed him during his first writing journey. Discovery writing has been a very useful tool to Peter but he knows only readers can truly judge and endorse his enthusiasm for the concept. By enjoying the story.
