Stromboli is a fully active volcano. This continuously active volcano is one of the few in the world where a visitor can see an eruption. Mostly, you can observe several eruptions in one hour. Unfortunately, the organisation of the trip is not so easy. The journey is possible only by the ship. It is not permitted to climb up the volcano Stromboli without a local guide. You should book the mountain guide before the journey. This guidebook should make easier the travel preparation. It contains valuable tips and links to web pages. With it you can carry out the necessary reservations before. With this guidebook you save a lot of time. Tip for a round trip: In Italy it can get very hot during the summer. The best journey time is in the spring or autumn. Naples is a good starting point for a tour. Visit the places of interest in Naples (Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Archaeological Museum, ...). Plan about 3 days for it. Afterwards, go with the ferry to Stromboli. Afterwards, go with the ferry to Sicily. Borrow a hired car. Climb up the volcano Etna with a guide. Visit Agrigent, Palermo, Syracuse, Taormina, ... Plan about 4 days for it. Sicily alone is worth a trip of 14 days. From Sicily to Naples you can go back with the ferry or the train. Alternatively, you can fly from Sicily directly home. For this tour you should plan minimum 2 weeks.
