About the Book

OVER 100 PAGES! THE BEGINNERS GUIDE TO MEDITATION AND INNER PEACE! This book contains the basic lessons and exercises you need to start meditating TODAY and begin to experience mental stillness and inner peace. It is based on the authors my own meditation experience together with the basic teachings of DEEPAK CHOPRA, who claims meditation can effectively improve our physical, mental and spiritual lives with only a few minutes of daily practice. "The everyday mind," Deepak explains, "is full of thoughts, feelings, sensations, worries, daydreams and fantasies. But at a deeper level, the mind begins in silence... Finding that level deeper than thought is the essence of meditation." WHAT THIS BOOK CAN SHOW YOU: *Why the untrained mind can be compared with a wild monkey. *How our mind creates problems, worries, sadness, despair and suffering. *What is a "mantra" and how it can be easily used to train the mind. *How to practice the basic steps of mantra meditation. *How to interrupt our "noisy internal chatter" during meditation. *How to observe and release our thoughts during meditation. *How to recognize the illusory nature of our "false self" during meditation. *How to discover our "true Self" and experience inner stillness during meditation. *How to face stressful situations, avoid constant worries and enjoy inner peace even when we are not meditating. *And more! About the Author :
(A. J. PARR is an experienced journalist and author with a lifelong interest in meditation techniques and the Comparative Study of Religion) WHEN I WAS 17 YEARS OLD (I am now 57) I received my first Hindu initiation at the Mission of the Divine Light, founded by Guru Maharaj Ji (presently known as Prem Rawat or Maharaji). His basic teachings or "Knowledge," based on ancient Hinduism and Buddhism, included four meditation techniques (Divine Light, Inner Music, Word and Nectar) to help us stop the mind and free ourselves from Illusion. I was 30 when I received my second Hindu initiation and meditation technique, this time from a disciple of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1918-2008), creator of Transcendental Meditation or TM. Maharishis "mantra meditation" technique was practiced, among others, by the Beatles, Mia Farrow, Shirley MacLaine, Donovan, and also Deepak Chopra, who worked side by side with Maharishi before starting his own career a spiritual guide. And, according to him, he still practices it and widely recommends it for attaining inner peace and spiritual progress. I was 37when I received my third initiation and meditation technique. This time from a disciple of guru Sant Thakar Singh (1929-2005) of the Sant Mat tradition, which is also known as "The Path of Saints." The Indian poet and saint Kabir (1440-1518) belonged to the first generation of Sant Mat, which is derived from Hinduism and influenced by Sikhism. I was also a Freemason for three years (1987-1990) and more recently, I studied "A Course in Miracles," as well as the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, and the Dalai Lama, among others, before giving birth to "The Secret of Now Series.""
