The things that we dream about are said to be many things, but not often are they said to be true. A deep church rooted family of three generations mysteriously possess a clairvoyant, telepathic ability but do not share much talk about it. A sequence of events shake the foundation of the family's tree of secrets, and new family members begin to unveil and personally experience the extraordinary telepathic ability for themselves. A family member's prediction becomes true the day Micah Stevens is brought into this world, but information concerning the family's telepathic ability is silenced by his father James. Micah is forced to learn about his abilities on his own. In the future, the state of Kansas is a mere shadow of what it use to be. Crime rate is high, unemployment continues to soar as Micah tries to balance being a normal kid in High School and possessing the ability to have clear and vivid dreams about the last moments of several people's lives. Micah knows his mother would disapprove but It's way too much for a kid to handle, so Micah discovers a way to diminish his telepathy and dreaming abilities by consuming and participating in unnatural activities. Without much practice of hiding his new habits, Micah is admitted into treatment by his father James but doesn't return home. Instead, Micah moves in with friends and turns to a life of crime to support his new habits, but his life is flipped upside down when he crosses the path of one of Kansas's best detectives. Micah is arrested, but in the process, Detective Robinson discovers Micah's telepathic abilities and decides to use the information for his own gain. Detective Robinson receives new fame but breaks his promise to release Micah from Jail with the intentions of continuing his "super cop" legacy. An unexpected incident occurs and the highly decorated (Detective Robinson) is personally summoned by the Governor of Kansas to personally solve the murder and restore justice. Micah is forced to face the fears of using his abilities while he continues to live a sober life behind bars, however, learns to tame and harness the ability. While Micah awaits trial, he's transferred to maximum security facilities throughout the state of Kansas, but his telepathic abilities do not go unnoticed as it becomes a familiar scent to Detective Halloway, who has already had prior engagements and experiences with people in the past who possessed the same ability....like Micah's mother. This book is the first belonging to a series of three.
