About the Book

The classic Evil Under the Sun, one of the most famous of Agatha Christie's Poirot investigations, has the fastidious sleuth on the trail of the killer of a sun-bronzed beauty whose death brings some rather shocking secrets into the light. The beautiful bronzed body of Arlena Stuart lay face down on the beach. But strangely, there was no sun and Arlena was not sunbathing...she had been strangled. Ever since Arlena's arrival the air had been thick with sexual tension. Each of the guests had a motive to kill her, including Arlena's new husband. But Hercule Poirot suspects that this apparent "crime of passion" conceals something much more evil.

About the Author :
Dame Agatha Christie (1890-1976) was a British crime writer best known for her detective novels and short stories. According to Guinness World Records, she is the bestselling novelist of all time, her novels having sold over two billion copies and having been translated into more than one hundred languages. The Agatha Award for best mystery and crime writers was named in her honor. David Suchet, famed as TV's Hercule Poirot, has starred with the RSC, on London's West End and on Broadway, winning four Olivier nominations and a Tony(R) nomination. He has starred in numerous films and is director of the Old Vic Theatre, and a member of the Trust Council of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Review :
"Considered by many to be one of the very best Agatha Christie mysteries, this macabre tale has lost none of its crisp intrigue since it was first published in 1941...Each of the well-developed characters is suspect, and listeners will constantly be changing their bets as to whodunit. British stage actor Suchet, who many know as the definitive Poirot from the Public Television Mystery! series was an obvious choice for the reader of this production, having won an Audie award for reading Christie's Mysterious Affair at Styles in 1997. Suchet gives an outstanding and highly entertaining performance, obviously taking great zeal in the task of fleshing out Christie's colorful lot of characters." -- "Publishers Weekly (audio review)" "Hercule Poirot will live on forever because, like Chaplin's Little Tramp (that other immortal in moustache and bowler hat) he has the ability to solve the problems of the world." -- "Alan Bradley, New York Times bestselling author, praise for the author" "Poirot attempts to get away from it all at the seaside, where he encounters Christie's usual international cast of characters. Since many of these eccentrics are stereotypes, David Suchet's wonderful rendering of the henpecked husband dutifully uttering 'yes, darling, ' the machine-gun verbal delivery of Westin, and the always volatile mix of English and Irish accents and temperaments all combine to surpass a straight reading. These delicious ingredients mix successfully with the complex story of the beautiful Arlena's murder and the many suspects who all possess motive, means, and opportunity, as Poirot cleverly reveals." -- "AudioFile" "She springs her secret like a land mine." -- "Times Literary Supplement (London)"
