About the Book

"[...]who was sick. I suppose with a family of nine children he made enough visits to feel like one of the family. Dad did the cooking and as near as I can remember we ate pork chops and canned peaches most of the time. I did the washing and ironing and I could do the shirts quite well. My father had a big oak roll top desk he used for all his book-keeping. He saved dimes in a[...]."
