About the Book

Introduction to Palette Knife Painting is a reference guide for artists who want to understand more about the techniques used in creating impasto art, using palette and painting knifes. The guide contains practical information on palette knife and paint choices, use and characteristics, techniques to achieve a variety of surface textures, lines and paint applications, as well as tips for cleaning and storing knives. This resource will answer many of the common "how do I..."questions asked by artists about this unique painting style. It is not a step by step painting book but an introductory guide to knife techniques for beginners.

About the Author :
Jeanette Jobson is a visual artist who lives and works in Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. She was born in Nova Scotia, grew up in Newfoundland, and lived in Ireland and the United Kingdom for fourteen years, before returning to the province in 1988. She studied fine art under Tom Greenshields, R.A., in the UK in the 1980's, with an emphasis on classical drawing techniques. She has continued to expand her techniques in painting and printmaking from workshops and self study. For thirty years, she has explored the world through a variety of mediums, with her work evolving over time into its current mix of representational and impressionist techniques with a concentration on reflections, water and fish. Jeanette has devoted time at the board and mentor levels to the local arts community, as well as online visual art forums as instructor and moderator. She also offers workshops in drawing and painting as well as gyotaku printing. Her work is in the collection of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and has been exhibited in The Rooms as part of the Arts & Letters Competition, as well as being in private collections in Canada, USA, England, Australia and New Zealand.
