About the Book

THE CRIES OF INNOCENTS IS THE STORY OF ONE FAMILY'S STRUGGLE TO OVERCOME BOTH INNER AND OUTER DEMONS. Is it possible to brutally kill someone and not know it? After his father graphically depicts the horrors of war, and then dies, nine-year-old Ryan Cain retreats into his own world to escape the screams and images that ravage his mind. Years later, local residents fall victim to gruesome attacks and Ryan becomes the prime suspect. Time lapses leave Ryan Cain uncertain whether he has committed the horrific acts with which he's been charged. The evidence says he's guilty. But there's more at work than meets the eye. The unconscionable demons that overtook his father's mind years earlier now consume Ryan's dreams. Tormented cries play Ping-Pong in the confines of his skull. Fantasy and reality unwillingly share common ground. While the police work to piece together the actions and motives of their suspect, psychiatrist Abdo Betare struggles to piece together Ryan's fragmented psyche. Are the past and present inseparably linked, or is Ryan losing his mind? Ryan's complex history creates mixed emotions for both his defenders and those seeking to lock him away forever. Nothing is predictable. The reemergence of long-lost prophecies ordained by Adolf Hitler's Jewish psychic lead all concerned on a terrifying quest to discover the bizarre truth. As Ryan's memories and words begin to flow, what they discover is much more horrific than any of them might ever have imagined. AUTHOR'S INVITATION TO A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER Darkness to some brings a peaceful night of pleasant dreams. To others, darkness represents the omnipresent danger of delving into areas best left repressed. There are many forms of darkness. The darkness of night-the absence of light, obscuring the hideous deeds that evil men do. Darkness of the soul-the unfathomable depths to which some men will succumb to feed their own desires and ambitions. The darkness of emptiness-an abyss filled with void memories, too painful to remember, best left in the cold obscurity of blackness. The darkness of shame and guilt-an internal parasite that eats away at the goodness within until it consumes its victims, and renders them hopeless of redemption. And last, but not least, the darkness of undesired, yet uncontrollable urges-feelings and acts that would repulse you on any day of your life, except today. You are cordially invited to venture into the dark hallways of Ryan Cain's mind, as the tormented son of a holocaust survivor struggles with his father's physical and mental deterioration, and the possibility that he himself might, unknowingly, be a serial killer. Tread carefully however, for in the darkness, lurk atrocities... real or imagined, that have driven many a soul to the brink of insanity.
