About the Book

In 1980 an eminent heart surgeon and his 4 year old step-son were shot to death in the bedroom of their exclusive home in Golden, Colorado, a suburb of Denver Evidence at the scene conclusively indicated that the Doctor's wife and mother of the boy had killed them in a fit of rage and fled the scene to avoid prosecution. Due to the horrific nature of the crimes, she was placed upon the F.B.I. Ten-Most Wanted list and the entire country was looking for her. However, this was not exactly the way it happened, thus the story of the woman that came to be known as "Lula May" and "Dr.Death," vicious murderer of her own son and several others that interfered with the pursuit of her destiny! She had been chosen by a Higher Power before she was born to become the protector of a special place and its creature inhabitants that had become endangered by human encroachment, namely an isolated swamp in Louisiana. Unknown to her, her entire life had been directed towards this goal such as acquiring intimate knowledge of the assigned area, becoming a nurse specializing in care of challenged children and becoming a Doctor, accompanied by other special skills required for the position. But she would have to prove her worthiness by surviving a relentless pursuit by the Police and if she accomplished this, make an irreversible covenant with the "Mother-of-Nature" to live and die within the boundaries or her assigned area. She would be given limited powers in order to accomplish her purpose which was to capitalize upon fears and superstitions that was an inherent part of the culture of the residents of the area and become known as the "BITCH-WITCH HAUNT of HOO-DOO SWAMP!" They would say that she could turn herself into an animal of the swamp whenever she chose to do so! Author's Note: As I say in all of my books, I firmly believe that unique and interesting characters can make a good story great and I list them so that they will help you make a decision as to whether to buy the book. Also of significance is that this is a full-length novel consisting of over 600 pages, 45 chapters plus epilogue for a total of 128,800 words. Enjoy!!! Significant Characters: 'Dr. Lupe Anderson', Deanna Brown, Rosalie Jackson, Ronnie Hoffman, Gumbo, Bitch-Witch, Hoo-Doo Woman, Witch Doctor and Lula May Hebert--All one and the same woman, the star of the show. 'Hale Arnott', an obsessed and mentally ill Homicide detective. 'Jason Peltier', Arnott's partner 'Spitfire', a lesbian truck driver that befriends Lula May. 'Meaner', a disfigured human mute creature of the swamp. 'ol Blue', a black man that loves Meaner who is white. 'Auntie Broussard', a retired nurse that is psychic and becomes a rape victim. 'Tyne', a Highway Patrolwoman who encounters Lula May 'Lory', an severely abused wife and sister of Spitfire. 'Philo', Lory's six-year old son who is also mute. 'Billy Ray', a rich psychotic sadist, husband of Lory and father of Philo And last but not least is 'Jenny', Lula May's three legged dog, 'Rave-On', her Raven and constant companion as well as an oversized black panther that some say Is Lula May transformed. "This is but one book of my "Nurturer" series, three that are now published on Amazon with more in the editing process. These are: MAGGIE WILSON'S WORLD RANSOM OF THE HIGHEST ORDER All of my stories are original, unique, thought provoking and deal with social issues. Each is a blend of fantasy and realism involving animals where appropriate. Thank you for listening! Allen C. McKinzie, author

About the Author :
Personal Note from the Author: For the purpose of this particular book, I have deep Louisiana roots. My family on my mother's side goes back for generations, including my grandfather, who lived and made his living from the bounty of the bayous and lakes in this unique land, for his entire life. Though he is not characterized in it, this book is dedicated to him with love and appreciation. About the author: Allen has led a most unique and interesting life, using his many life experiences to draw upon for his writings. He is a voracious reader and prolific fantasy writer, having written several novels, a fictional series about animals, short stories for children and adults, and many poems. Having retired from an illustrious career with the Phoenix Arizona Police Department, he subsequently underwent a heart transplant, having survived thus far, for twenty years. The highlight of his career was being a specially trained bodyguard for numerous dignitaries, including Presidents; Presidential Candidates; Cabinet Members; an Ambassador from China; an African King; and certain celebrities including Elvis and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, among others. He has acted in several plays, including "Sound of Music," "On Golden Pond," and others. Allen loves animals and music; owns a library of approximately 1,000 CDs and tapes, mostly country, R&B and old-time rock and roll, and is a pretty fair drummer. His favorite entertainer is John Fogerty, of Creedence Clearwater Revival fame.
