About the Author :
Camilo Daniel Saavedra was born in Weed, California on 30 March 1947. His Father, Camilo Roberto Saavedra is a native of Mexico, born in the village of Pueblo Nuevo, County of Jalisco. (Deceased) His Mother, Francis Mildred (Smith) Saavedra is of Irish decent, and a native of Livingston, Montana. (Deceased) Mr. Saavedra's working years began at age 16 in 1963 and they continue to the present. He officially retired from the United States Army on June 30, 1993 as a Brigade level Command Sergeant Major. In his retirement, he is working as a part time Law Enforcement Instructor for Central Texas College, Europe at Kaiserslautern, Germany. He has been a Part-Time Instructor during various assignments for the past 34 years. Mr. Saavedra is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeant Majors Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas, Class 34. He carries multiple degrees: Master's Degree in Government Contracting with a Minor in Personnel Management from Webster University, St. Louis, MO; Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a Minor in European History and an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD; Associate Degree in Police Science, from Pike's Peak Community College at Colorado Springs, CO. During His military career 1966 - 1969/ 1975 - 1993 Mr. Saavedra held Leadership positions as Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major (Brigade), CPT, USAR Military Police. Also, Staff Positions as Operations NCOIC, Customs Inspections NCOIC, Training NCOIC. Civilian positions held: Chief of Police, Detective Sergeant, Patrolman, Deputy Sheriff, Welfare Fraud Criminal Investigator and Instructor, Vermont Police Academy, Pittsford, Vermont, Project Impact Coordinator, FEMA, Carbondale, IL. United Nations Police, Kosovo, Deputy Regional Commander, German K-4 South 2000-2002, Operations Specialist, Site COR, USAREUR, Provost Marshal, 2002-2006, 2007- 2013 USAREUR, Provost Marshal, Registry of Motor Vehicles.
