About the Book

Life can be hard: your lover cheats on you, you lose a family member, you can't pay the bills. But it can be pretty great, too: you've had the hottest sex of your life, you get that plum job, you muster the courage to write your novel. Everyday across the world, people go through the full and glorious gamut of life – but sometimes, a little advice is needed. For several years, thousands turned to Cheryl Strayed, a then-anonymous internet Agony Aunt. But unlike most Agony Aunts, this one's advice was spun from genuine compassion and informed by a wealth of personal experience – experience that was sometimes tragic and sometimes tender, often hilarious and often heartbreaking. Having successfully battled her own demons while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, Cheryl Strayed sat down to answer the letters of the frightened, the anxious, the confused; and with each gem-like correspondence – of which the best are collected in this volume – she proved to be the perfect guide for those who had got a little lost in life.

About the Author :
Cheryl Strayed is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Wild, the New York Times bestseller Tiny Beautiful Things and the novel Torch. Wild was chosen by Oprah Winfrey as her first selection for Oprah's Book Club 2.0. Strayed's award-winning writing has appeared in The Best American Essays, the New York Times Magazine, the Washington Post Magazine, Vogue, Salon, The Missouri Review, The Sun, Tin House, The Rumpus – where she wrote the popular "Dear Sugar" advice column – and elsewhere. Her books have been translated into more than thirty languages around the world. The movie adaptation of Wild will be released by Fox Searchlight in December 2014. The film is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and stars Reese Witherspoon, with a screenplay by Nick Hornby. Strayed holds an MFA in fiction writing from Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and their two children.

Review :
'Might be one of the most profound yet enjoyable books you will read ... Profane, funny and incredibly moving.' 'I couldn't bring myself to stop reading ... It made me laugh out loud and it made me gasp with disbelief ... The writing is addictively, breathtakingly great.' 'A realistic and poignant compilation of the intricacies of relationships.' 'Strayed's worldview – her empathy, her non-judgement, her belief in the fundamental logic of people's emotions and experiences despite occasional evidence to the contrary – begins to seep into readers' consciousness in such a way that they can apply her generosity of spirit to their own and, for a few hours at least, become better people ... courageous and engaging stuff.'
