About the Book

Buy Together and Save! Annabel Ness Evans & Bryan J. Rooney This interactive and highly applied text engages students with a rich mix of pedagogy (including unique FAQs and FYIs), a casual reader-friendly writing style, and examples of real psychological research from both research literature and student research projects. In this updated third edition, authors Annabel Ness Evans and Bryan J. Rooney focus on applying concepts and doing research with simple in-text exercises. Friendly and supportive in tone, this unique presentation of the basics conveys to students the excitement and fun of the research enterprise. Gregory Francis & Ian Neath Statistics come alive when students create and analyze their own data! What is STATLAB Online? It is an online laboratory for Intro Statistics, where students participate in behavioral experiments, and gather and analyze their own data using the statistical techniques taught in the course. Students are guided through the analysis of their data to demonstrate different statistical techniques in a meaningful way. By working with their own data, STATLAB Online provides a new way for students to appreciate the relevance of statistical analyses for understanding human behavior. STATLAB Online has been developed by Gregory Francis and Ian Neath, creators of the popular CogLab Online Laboratory for Cognition and Research Methods courses.

About the Author :
Annabel Ness Evans  received her PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of Alberta in 1979. She was the Chair of the Department of Psychology at Concordia University of Edmonton from 1975 until 2013, when she retired as Professor Emerita to muddle about in her garden, ski her brains out, and basically have a really good time. She has written two previous texts. Her Using Basic Statistics in the Behavioral and Social Sciences (2014) is in its fifth edition and is available from Sage. She has coauthored a book, Principles of Behavior Analysis (1994), with Lyle Grant.  Annabel’s sons, Christiaan, Marcus, and Luke, are grown and on their own so she lives with her Havanese dog, Skye, who has shown a notable lack of interest in psychological research.   Greg Francis is a Professor of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. in Cognitive and Neural Systems from Boston University. He teaches undergraduate statistics for psychology students as well as selected other courses. His research focuses on mathematical models of visual perception. In 2003 Greg was awarded the teaching award for the psych department. He is the first author on Cog Lab (a saleable software product that is used in Cognition and research methods courses) which is now in version 2.0- 4th edition. CogLab consists of approximately 50 labs and is used in courses nationwide and internationally. It sells approximately 20,000+ copies each year. Greg has also published CogLab on a CD, CogLab Reading and Social Psychology Labs.
