About the Book

The 20th century saw amazing technologies come into everyday use. Transportation was revolutionized by automobiles, aircraft, and spacecraft. Human health was revolutionized by modern surgical methods, organ transplants, antibiotics, and genetic engineering which resulted in a doubling of the worldwide life expectancy by the beginning of the 21st century. Computers were not invented until midway through the century but are now in everyday use. What might the 21st century be like? Emerging technologies such as genetic synthesis, cloning, and robotics have the potential to change our very definition of life and may have profound consequences to the future of humanity. Imagine new biological species being created by DNA manipulation, human cloning, indefinite life extension, computers and robots that exhibit human-like qualities, and humans merging with machines to form a new super-human race. But what about the human spirit, our soul, that God-given part of each of us that makes us unique? Could man's misuse of these technologies alter God's grand plan for humanity or might this be a part of the plan? A retired NASA engineer uses his knowledge of science and Christian theology to offer an optimistic view of the future of humanity.
