About the Book

I ponder for a tick as what to scribble on this parchment, but perhaps the simple truth is apropos... My name is Drake Richard England. I was born twice, both times in London. The first was March 9, in the year of our Lord 1600, and the second was December 19, 1639, when I was thirty-nine years old. This rebirth should not be perceived as a religious experience for on the contrary, Beelzebub might have been in attendance. When the Devil Comes Calling begins in 1639, a time that saw the bubonic plague moved through the city like an early morning fog decimating the population. Drake Richard England is dumped into the infamous bowels of London's dungeon and drained of his blood by butcher-barbers professing to be removing the contagion and left to die. But out of the shadows a stranger materializes and replaces the scarlet fluid with his own and saves him. This infusion confers immortality, but at a price for he must replace his blood every 120 days if he cares not to die. And there's the rub. Unbeknownst to him, the stranger, his father, has done the same for his brother, Drako. So begins the adventure of Drake Richard England and his brother, Drako. Follow them through three centuries, from the sewers of London to New York then the swamps of New Orleans on to San Francisco, and the gold fields of Alaska. While Drake seeks to build a life, Drako hunts both the innocent for pleasure and his brother for sheer malice. Their paths cross and crisscross finally ending in the trenches of the war to end all wars, World War I. And after more than three hundred years, they stand in a wicked place of darkness, waiting for the inevitable... When the Devil Comes Calling.
