Dr. Wafa Hozien is an educator of school leaders who teaches and inspires leaders to be visionary, motivational, and goal-driven. She encourages leaders to make data-based decisions while also being reflective practitioners. This book before you is a clear reflection of her expertise through single case studies. These case studies are perfect for sharpening the critical thinking of aspiring district leaders and those in current practice. Readers will be immersed in Dr. Hozien's rich national experiences and diverse perspectives. This book is a must-have for all district, division and educational leaders. If your goal is to be a successful school superintendent and Instructional Leader who builds systems that support teachers, students, parents, and community, you need to place Dr. Hozien’s case study books at the top of your reading list. Her case study book, Leading for Transformational Change: Case Studies to Show Effective Decision Making, is written from insights of her work as an Instructional Leader and research for numerous years of effective leadership practices for school superintendents. She describes her extensive case studies of school systems, problems they face, and how great leaders overcome obstacles to build thriving schools in communities. In her previous work, Reflective Practices: Case Studies for High School Principals, Dr. Hozien outlined approaches to educational leadership practices that work. If you are a new or aspiring superintendent you will not be disappointed in this book. This book is a must read for new or aspiring school superintendents. Very few books on the superintendency, if any, address the position in the manner of Leading for Transformational Change. This book covers the challenges facing superintendents today and how to be successful at it and presents a realistic view of the superintendency. It also details: the many facets of the superintendency, the relationship between the superintendent and the school staff, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. This is a must read for anyone going into this profession or presently at the helm of a school district.
