Review :
good resource Education Studies provides a useful insignt into issues surrounding the education sector. In particular the chapters that summarise differentiation in education and the role of new technologies. The use of various contributors allowed for a diverse range of content to be covered in great detail. I strongly recommend this book for both study and professional practice. A very good book that discusses a variety of contemporary issues in education This new edition is excellent and in its brief but insightful chapters provides an excellent introduction to a range of issues covered throughout the three years of our degree course. it is the kind of book I would hope a student would access on many occasions. This book is recommended for all students commencing or undertaking education studies. It is clearly focused around teacher training and discusses a wide range of subjects. A very helpful book which provides valuable information and discussion points for our second year students. A wide range of contemporary issues relating to diverse areas of education presented in a critically thought provoking manner. This book covers a range of current educational issues, while providing some background information, which allows students to gain an insight to policies and practice.
The ‘Pause for thought’ sections are an excellent feature, which will encourage students to critically reflect on information. It also provides questions that can be discussed in groups to develop students’ reflective skills, while also gaining and considering alternative points of view.
This is a very clear and accessible text which explores the varied and challenging issues facing the educational world.

The shaded ′research′ and ′pause for thought′ boxes are really helpful to encourage students to reflect on the issues and begin to develop their own views.

A very helpful text. Variety of topics which are well written and provide an excellent basis for seminars. The pause for thought questions also allow learners to further develop their knowledge and understanding of topics of interest. An essential book for Education Studies students A good up to date text on the curent situation in Education. I particularly liked chapter 9 University Knowledge This is a really accessible book regarding education and how it has changed over the years, particularly regarding technology.
\
The writers and contributors are all experts in their field and this shows throughout. The ‘pause for thought’ features encourage the reader to find out more, and the ‘research boxes’ give useful points of reference.
\
The only concern I have is the thin paper on which it is printed, text can be seen through from the other side. However, this does not distract from the excellent content which will help any undergraduate student with their learning. An informative and engaging text that will provide students with a broad understanding of key issues within education.
