About the Author :
Peter Sonntagbauer is a Senior Project Director in Cellent AG (AT) with extensive project management skills combined with 30 years of practical experience. He graduated in 1979 (PhD) in applied statistics and informatics. On top of his academic education he holds many advanced certificates including IPMA, PRINCE2 Practitioner, ITIL and COBIT. He was working as a consultant for international organizations, large corporations and managed large scale IT projects both in the private as well as in the public sector in Europe, Africa and Asia for more than 20 years. Since 2011 he is project director of the research project “Future Policy Modeling” (FUPOL). FUPOL is an FP7 research project with 17 partners and 9 Mio Euro budget. He is also part-time lecturer at the informatics department of the University of Applied Science “Technikum” in Vienna. Kawa Nazemi graduated in Media and Computer Science at the University of Applied Sciences Giessen-Friedberg in 2006 with a Dipl.-Ing. (Master Degree). Henceforth he worked as researcher at the Fraunhofer IGD and was involved in several national and European projects, where he developed user- centered systems for knowledge representations. In 2007 he overtake the leadership and management of the THESEUS project Innovative User Interfaces and Visualizations, where he established a research group focused on semantics and adaptive visualization. Since 2011 he leads the research group Semantics Visualization. His research interests are focused on technologies and concepts for user-, context-, and data-adaptive visualizations. Kawa Nazemi is author of more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, and serves as reviewer and PC member for a couple of conferences. Susanne Sonntagbauer is a political scientist in Cellent AG (AT) with nearly 30 years of experience in the fields of project management and consulting. She has a long term experience in project management including collaborative projects with multiple partners as well as consulting for public bodies and private companies. Her educational background includes three major areas: economics, political science and IT. She is a graduate of the Vienna Business School (HAK), finished a postgraduate study of the federal technical institute for IT (HTL) and holds a PhD in applied political science. Her thesis focused on the participation of women in economic development and urbanization. This thesis was the base for the subsequent vocational activities, especially for cooperation with the public bodies. The combination of this knowledge and experience in economics, project management and political science is deemed important for the project and the design of the book. Giorgio Prister has been the President of Major Cities of Europe (MCE) since 2008. He ensures the continuous improvement of the value proposition of MCE by promoting the exchange of experiences about innovation in MCE. He has worked for 32 years for IBM in which he covered multiple professional and managerial positions. In the last 10 years with IBM he has been leading sales and marketing for Europe’s IBM Local Government Industry. Dirk Burkhardt holds a diploma in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz and works since 2008 as researcher at the Fraunhofer IGD. He was involved in various national and European projects, where he developed systems for knowledge representation and visualization. In 2009 he overtook the responsibility Semantic-Editing Annotation in the THESEUS Core-Technology Project Innovative User Interfaces and Visualizations and the lead of the European RURALeNTER project. He is currently the deputy of the work package for advanced visualization in the European FUPOL project. His research interests are focused on concepts and technologies for process-oriented visualization for the semantic web and policy modeling.
