About the Book

This is a book that most Christians will not be brave enough to read, because it may threaten their comfort zones regarding what they think they know. But it is a book that all Christians need to read, because America is a nation in turmoil. Donald J Trump was elected to a second term in 2024 despite his conviction for 34 serious financial fraud felonies and for sexual assault. Trump is a verified serial liar and he has promised to be a "dictator on day one" if he were elected to a second term. Nine months into that second term, Trump is weaponizing the levers of power to seek revenge on his political enemies and all those who held him to account for his criminality and dangerous behavior in the past. He is weakening the nation by firing tens of thousands of qualified civil servants and defunding and obliterating all federal programs intended to serve as safety nets for the poor and those in need of medical insurance coverage. Trump sides with dictators around the world instead of our former allies who lead democracies. He is an admitted racist and an authoritarian. determined to destroy the democratic constitutional republic of the United States of America.

And; Trump is doing all this with the permission and support of millions of American Christians.

This raises some serious questions about Christianity itself. Throughout history there have been times when Christianity has been weaponized against populations, such as during the Inquisition period in Europe. Untold thousands were put to gruesome deaths in the name of Christ and the Christian God. As of 2025, this cycle of horror seems to be preparing to repeat itself.

Given all this, the author, a former devout Christian who became a Buddhist after years of thorough Bible study, takes on a blunt and honest examination of Christianity itself, with a particular focus on the very heart of Christianity... the idea that Jesus was not just a normal man, but God Himself, come to earth to teach and offer salvation from sin to the world. But if Jesus was God, then who did Jesus pray to? Are there two Gods? Or did those who set up the early church simply get it all wrong?

The basic premise deserves scrutiny because Christianity is once again becoming a threat to everyone who supports a liberal, compassionate, secular society, where all are free to worship as they chose, or to not worship at all. White Christian Nationalism is greasing the gears of fascism in America and many Evangelical Christians are seeking to establish a Christian theocracy. They view Trump as their opportunity to do this, and they appear nearly worship him despite the fact that Trump bares no resemblance whatever to the Jesus who uttered the Sermon on the mount.

History shows us that religion can be very toxic. This book is not intended to destroy Christianity. It seeks only to offer the reader an opportunity to re-examine what they think they know about this powerful religion. And if that can be done with an open mind, then perhaps it will become a bit harder to weaponize Christianity against the people.
