About the Author :
Meg Grandfield DeMakas (Renslow) is the daughter of Keith and Joan Grandfield. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 28, 1949. She currently lives in Crown Point, Indiana, with her family. Meg attended school in Hammond, Indiana, graduating from Gavit High School in 1967. She graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1972 earning a Bachelor in Science in Elementary Education. In 1977 she earned a Master of Science in Elementary Education and a Reading Endorsement at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, in 1977. In 1996 she earned an Elementary Educational Administration Standard License at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. In 2000 she earned an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration and a Superintendent License at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. She has worked in the field of education for thirty years. She taught from 1972 to 1974 at North Springfield Elementary in Springfield, Vermont, where she taught reading remediation. She taught middle school language arts at Froebel School in Gary, Indiana, until 1976. She taught reading remediation, gifted education, middle school language arts, first, second, and fourth grade in Hammond, Portage, and New Albany, Indiana, and also, in Louisville, Kentucky. She has taught thirteen college sections at Purdue University Calumet, in Hammond, Indiana, at Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana, and at Indiana University Northwest, in Gary, Indiana. Meg has been active in the field of education, writing and implementing grants, and participating on plan teams, design teams, and professional development initiatives.
