About the Book

An Owners Manual For Life's Highway by Pulitzer Prize Nominee, Joe King "Joe King is a one-of-a-kind original..& so is his strip, Rust & Wrinkles!" -STAN LEE/Marvel ***** "A roadsong of another sort..this book is a winner & highly recommended." -DON ABOOD/BabyBoomer Collectibles ***** "Rust & Wrinkles: growing old together", is an interesting mix of that love of your first car, dreams set aside as you get on with life, and whether it's possible to recapture that dream and pass it on to the next generation. Not your typical cartoon book (but then nothing Joe King comes up with is ever just average!). Like most of this artist's/author's work, "Rust & Wrinkles" makes you stop, slow down, & read it again. Each classic black & white comic-strip/drawing is paired with a short story, blurb, comment that lends insight into the deeper meanings of that cartoon. Funny, charming, nostalgic... it's hard to describe, but definitely fun to read and worth sharing with the intelligent humorists in your life." -CHOCOLATE FREEDOM/Amazon.com ***** "There is an almost instinctive need to preserve the experiences and emotions attached to cars that play such an important role in forming the image of a man's self. Even when life conspires to interupt the love affair and time takes it's toll, the eyes of love never betray the beauty of the beholder. Faithful to the end- the man, the car and the memories roll along life's roads in the most poignient of ways in Rust and Wrinkles. It is an introspective and sentimental perspective on the profound effect that automobiles can have on the male psyche. True to his craft, Rust and Wrinkles is drawn in the unmistakable style and is intellegently written by Joe Ferreira. Anyone that has ever been emotionally attached to their car will appreciate owning this book." -IDODREAMS/Amazon.com ***** "If you love your car - no matter what the make, you will understand where the author is coming from. I must admit I am just a car "liker," but I look in on this world with a slightly jealous desire to feel the depth of the connection the author must feel between his SteelandWheels and his life experiences." -CaliforniaGuy "Joe is a national treasure! I'm a marketing expert and cite Joe King as a great example of a very clever artistic person who understands well how to put together the marketing puzzle pieces so he can earn a living solely as a creator of joy and insight. Cartoonist Joe King's indie books are part of his overall positioning (branding) as an illustrator, cartoonist, book designer and marketing producer. His syndicated cartoon strip is published in California newspapers, his caricatures are treasured artwork..." -Bruce Batchelor/Agio Publishing

About the Author :
Collected Works by Joe King In the early '80s Joe parlayed his position as one of the original Blue Sky Rangers, [Mattel Electronics videogame designers] into a Department of Defense [D.O.D.] software engineer, enjoying a TOP SECRET security clearance at Lockheed's fabled Rye Canyon facility [Skunk Works], original nest for the SR-71 Blackbird fleet. Today he suffers the slings and arrows of outrageous mis-fortune - frequently at the hands of other cartoonists! The 2004 Pulitzer Prize Nominee most recently served as Artist-In-Residence at the Charles M. Schulz Museum and is currently in production of several self-syndicated comic strips distributed world-wide under the banner of his publishing forge: www.FUNNYPAPERZ.com; a whimsical fusion of fine art, popular culture and humorous illustrations. Joe King, a native Californian - born in the shadow of The Lone Ranger Rock - is making the world a funnier place one cartoon at a time. Explore more of his creative universe at www.TOON-GUY.com
