About the Book

...the voice in the tale declared, "Time, child, is what you need. Time will heal these things. Calm. Be calm." The voice was the wind whispering the sweetest of nothings, transforming her into something lovely. The murmuring sunk deeply into her heart, unleashing a lovely seed. Eventually the soothing song of her soul awakened and nurtured this seed. When she focused on the needs of this essence, a magical story began to unfold. Each breath she breathed honored this flowering message within her. The ideas resounded intensely, yet soothingly: Soar. dream deep dove is a poetic memoir about Stacey Theresa Cuevas. She penned herself "cita cuevas" after embarking on her first serious writing projects in 1995. During that time she identified most with her Filipino name, Estacita, so shortening it to "cita" fell in line with her alliteration affection and amusement (think, fanny fern). cita is inspired by the poetic voices of writers and artists like Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Jamaica Kincaid, Mari Evans, Langston Hughes, Isabel Allende, Jessica Hagedorn, Maxine Hong Kingston, Amy Tan, Julia Alvarez, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Gwendolyn Brooks, Adrienne Rich, Audre Lorde, Countee Cullen, Claude McKay, Mark Twain, Tupac Shakur, mos def, suheir hammad, Saul Williams, Golda Supernova, Rashish Paul, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Prince, K'naan, k-os, Madlib, MF Doom, MC Lyte, Roberta Flack, Sade, Frida Kahlo, William Blake, William Shakespeare, Julia Wertz, fanny fern and e.e. cummings.
