Review :
NEW REVIEW from Doody's Review Service! Weighted Numerical Score: 92 - 4 Stars! This title includes an access code for an accompanying website with ebook version **Description** This is a comprehensive review of gynecological oncology that serves as worthwhile reference for residents and practitioners in the field. It also includes access to an interactive ebook version. **Purpose** The purpose is to provide a comprehensive review of the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of women with gynecological cancers. The online features are appreciated but the physical book itself serves as a worthwhile reference. **Audience** As one of the definitive books on the subject, it targets residents, fellows, and gynecologists, as well as gynecological oncologists. **Features** This is a comprehensive review of gynecological malignancies and their management strategies. Applicable to all stages of learning, it is easy to read and has easily understandable diagrams. For a first-year resident, it is an excellent introduction to the field, starting with the biology and genetics of cancer and the basics of chemotherapy. For each gynecological organ, it then proceeds to cover the extent of the disease from diagnosis and staging to surgical treatment, chemotherapy and radiation, including types and techniques, surveillance, and outcomes. The discussions are easy to read, separated into small sections, with the key points in bold. Scattered in each section are tables, which further consolidate the information, helping readers to remember it. To complete the review of each malignancy, the book contains slides of the relevant pathology, reviewing what makes each type of tumor unique and distinguishable. Finally, to ensure that readers are up-to-date with the latest information, the book contains references to current literature. Overall, it is a very useful and well-organized book, which makes learning the science and art of gynecologic oncology interesting and approachable. **Assessment** This is a great reference for gynecologists and gynecological oncologists. The virtual resources are appealing, but the book itself is a vital resource. REVIEWER Anthony Shanks, MD(Washington University School of Medicine)
