About the Book

Just Beyond The Hill is a selection of poetry, and short prose from the poet's private journals spanning over 25 years. It is an assortment of snap-shots, observations, emotions, memories and moods from both true experience and imagination. Though these poems span years, they are relevant and universal in their scope. As in a photograph album, they are seemingly random in order, where time is frozen in sharp focus, or where the subject is perceived, just out of camera shot. There is a sense of looking "just beyond the hill" to the next horizon.

About the Author :
Diane E. Dockum is a "North Country" native. She has always lived within sight of the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. She lives with her husband, Dennis, and cat, Annie. She has been writing since childhood, first dictating to her father as he typed, because she could not yet read or write. She continued her poetry through High school, and beyond, collecting notebooks full of her thoughts and feelings, most often in free verse poetry, or short stories and essays. She is the mother of two beautiful and talented daughters, one is an Artist & Teacher, and the other a Registered Nurse; and has two extremely wonderful and gorgeous granddaughters. A long time member of the North Country Writers' Group, she has published poetry and short prose (under the name Diane West-Doran, and the pseudonym Edyth Charles) in "The Pickle Factory", a small publication she started that published the poems and short stories of local writers from St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Franklin Counties. She has shared some of her work in public poetry forums, and with "Artists On the Move", sponsored by St. Lawrence County Arts Council, and also in readings at Clarkson University, and SUNY Potsdam's Gibson Gallery.
