About the Author :
After graduating from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, Lena progressed through Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, IV Therapy, and Assistant Director of Nursing positions with several of Massachusetts' regional hospitals and long-term care facilities. She successfully transitioned into health care administration, working for the American Red Cross, Trivalley Elder Services, and The Committee to End Elder Homelessness. At this same time she earned her undergraduate degree from Worcester State College with a B.S. in Health Education, and a Masters degree in Public Health from Boston University. As an educational translator, Lena merges research and clinical practice creating culture change in the healthcare environment. Her extensive clinical background and achievements include the development of innovative training programs and curricula, proven cross-cultural communication skills, change management skills, and interagency networking qualifications. Currently, Lena is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Education at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center (HRC). Here she develops, coordinates and/or teaches educational sessions for nursing and rehabilitation staff in collaboration with members of HRC's Department of Professional Development. In addition Lena is involved with creating the culture change needed to implement a social model of care for HRC's new CCRC.
