About the Book

A Lost Man's Struggle... The Smile of a Man Lost begins with Ian Gordon, an artist, and co-owner of an art gallery, seemingly at the top of life. Ian and Luanne, his co-worker and friend, manage to put together another opening night exhibition for a group of artists they represent. The exhibition goes off without a hitch, but Ian and his wife, Alexia, get into a car accident afterwards. This marks the beginning of a string of heartrending events that test Ian and the man that God created him to be. Rendered unconscious, Ian has a dream laden with mystery and confusion. He wakes up in a hospital bed, and it is here where he finds that he has been in a coma for three months. After a few tests, it is also determined that he is suffering from memory loss, which takes him back to a time when he was not an art gallery owner, he was not married, and, most importantly, he did not give his life to Christ. From here, the story takes the reader on a journey in figuring out who Ian was and who he can never be again. He looks for himself in the church, at his birth home where his mother, Bridgette, still lives, and where people tell him is his current home. Stripped of nearly his entire identity, Ian resorts to what he still knows to do, which is to paint. What he paints turns out to be the most important work of art of his life. As if things weren't hectic enough, Ian runs into a woman named Oluremi. Though Ian has never seen this woman before, she lays claim that she was the nurse that took care of him during his coma... Touching on themes such as forgiveness, love, and purpose, The Smile of a Man Lost is a story that is sure to bring smiles one moment, tears the next, and an overall stronger sense of what it means to endure for the blessings on the other side of the struggle.
