About the Book

My desire to write a book began more then thirty years ago. This book consists of poetry written between the years of 1973 and 2005.My writings come through observations and experiences in my life, and by observing nature and my fellow man. I do not and never have driven, therefore, during my working years I mostly used the public transportation system to travel back and forth to work. I would observe my fellow passengers, wondering what their lives might be like. What were their hopes and dreams? Someone wrote The eyes are the windows to the soul. Body language can also tell alot about a person too. Sometimes men from the local rescue mission would be aboard the same bus I was riding. They would look so lost and alone, thus was born Johnny No-Where. I receive inspiration from family and friends too, especially my eight year old granddaughter, Cheyenne. One day she was feeling quite out of sorts, IE Crabby Abby. Another time she laid a plastic ant on my shoulder and asked Grandma, can you write a story about this?' I love nature, especially Winter with its cold beauty and Spring, with its new life and new beginnings. I believe that by observing nature's habits we can learn much about ourselves. In watching a pair of nesting birds over a period of time, I noticed how they worked together to build their home and care for their young, so I wrote A Lesson From The Birds. Many of my poems are inspired through my strong faith in God. A image that I saw in a magazine led me to write A Face In Space. As I began to put this book together, it seemed to take on a life of its own, like a full-term child struggling to be born. I hope that you, the reader, receive the joy and blessings inreading my poetry that I received in writing it.
