About the Book

Ivan Tippen wants to be the best weatherman in Morristown or even the world! During a horrific thunder and lightening storm the sound of tinkling bells awakens Ivan from his sleep. He looked out his window into the darkness of night; the sound appeared to be coming from the barn. Ivan slipped quietly out of the house. The barn door creaked angrily at being disturbed. A glow in the corner of the barn caught Ivan's attention. Climbing the ladder, he crawled over the prickly hay. He peered over the edge. There below him huddled together were seven strange alien creatures. Ivan knew instantly what they were, he remembered his father reading him a story about them. They were called konkles and each konkle was a refractor of the rainbow! Ivan could hardly wait until morning to call his best friend, Jake. The boys watched over the konkles the following night. While Jake slept, Ivan snuck down the ladder. Cautiously he approached the konkles. He soon discovered the snail-like aliens have magical powers! He learns to communicate with the largest konkle, Randu by holding onto one of its antennae. He convinced the konkles to grant him magical powers so he could change the drought to rain to produce huge crops. Ivan would be the town hero by saving the farm from being taken by the bank. Ivan promised the konkles he would use the powers bestowed upon him for prosperity not devastation. Otherwise the consequences would be devastating. The Cloudiferous Ruler, Boltzap would stop at nothing to get the magic antenna back. Jake, the worrywart and his Grandpa, a retired weatherman, attempt to keep Ivan from destroying Morristown. Ivan faces the challenges of friendship, trust andloyalty.
