About the Book

My name is not actually Penny Dreadful. It is Penelope Jones. The 'Dreadful' bit is my dad's JOKE. But this time I really wasn't trying to be DREADFUL... No. I was just trying to DO MY BEST, so it is completely not my fault that right now I am sort of blueish all over and so is my sister Daisy's swan outfit. And I was also really TRYING TO HELP Joshua Bottomley fall in love with Daisy by doing a science experiment on him, but I did not know that he would just go a bit pale and green and it would all turn into one BIG kerfuffle! Get ready for a taste of destruction with Penny's third side-splitting trio of troublesome tales! The first book in the Penny Dreadful series, Penny Dreadful is a Magnet for Disaster, was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.

About the Author :
Joanna Nadin is a former broadcast journalist, political speechwriter and special adviser to the Prime Minister. Since leaving politics she has written numerous books for children and adults, including an adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility for younger readers, the Carnegie Medal-nominated Joe All Alone, which is now a BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated BBC drama, and the Flying Fergus series with Sir Chris Hoy. Originally from Essex, she now lives in Bath, and is Associate Professor in Creative Writing at University of Bristol.

Review :
'Side-splittingly funny' - The Bookseller; 'Can not be read with a straight face' - Sarah's Book Reviews; 'There is never a dull moment when Penny Dreadful and her best friend Cosmo Moon Webster are around. Simply wonderful!' - First4Dads; 'Don't miss the comic genius that is Penny Dreadful, a wickedly funny new creation and worthy contender to Horrid Henry' - The Bookseller; 'A truly apt title for a book that features the escapades of a small, well-meaning girl whose good intentions create havoc... This is a very funny book for newly independent readers' - The Irish Examiner; 'Get ready for a taste of destruction with this second side-splitting trio of tales of trouble. Penny Dreadful would have even Minnie the Minx running for cover. Nothing is safe when she's around' - Just Imagine Story Centre
