About the Book

Once upon a time there was a happy family. Until one horrible no good day when a new ruler was born…

Marianna, the most beautiful, ever so kindest princess, lives happily with her mum, dad and gerbil. Happy, that is, until the new baby comes along. His Royal Highness King Baby is so smelly. He’s so noisy. And all the talk in the Land is about him – non-stop. ALL THE TIME! Has there ever been such a time of wicked rule?!

New York Times bestselling author Sally Lloyd-Jones’ hilarious narrative voice is brought exquisitely to life by David Roberts, illustrator of Ada Twist, Scientist, in this home-grown fairy tale about a little girl with a new baby brother.

Review :
“Brilliantly observed and oozing style, a wonderfully funny take on sibling rivalry and the “wicked rule” of a new baby.” “This displacement-themed fairy tale spoof is funny from the very first page […] the sly pen-and-watercolour pictures provide delicious comic counterpoint […]” “I think I’ve just found my favourite ever picture book take on a new sibling. […]David Roberts must surely be king when it comes to pen and watercolour illustrations. Herein his distinctive illustrative style is retro 1970s (mum with frizzy permed hair and dad wearing bell-bottoms) ; but running in tandem with that are crayoned images showing the Princess’s version of events taken from Princess Marigold’s Drawing Book– a brilliant comic counterpoint if ever there was one. All this, alongside Sally Lloyd-Jones’ terrific fairytale pastiche and the result? A new dream team is launched.” “All in all, His Royal Tinyness is worth having in the house for David Roberts’ funny and clever illustrations alone; I especially loved the dad depicted in bell-bottoms and polo neck and the mum in a fabulous kaftan.”
