About the Author :
Dr Aiden P. Gregg is a lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Southampton, and a member of the Centre for Research on Self and Identity there. He gained his BA in Psychology from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and his PhD in personality and social psychology from Yale University, USA. His general areas of research interest are the self and social cognition. He is currently pursuing studies critically examining the roles played by self-enhancement and self-verification motives, the functions of self-esteem, the antecedents of implicit attitudes, and lie detection via response incompatibility. He is co-author (with Robert Abelson and Kurt Frey) of Experiments with People. He has had articles published in leading journals such as Journal and Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Review, and Applied Cognitive Psychology. He has also served as reviewer for such journals as Psychological Science, and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. He is (with Constantine Sedikides) a recipient of grants from the Economic and Social Research Council and Nuffield Foundation. Dr Claire Hart is a research fellow in the Centre for Research on Self and Identity at the University of Southampton. She earned both her BSc in Psychology and PhD in personality and social psychology from the University of Southampton. Her current research interests include the link between self processes and procedural fairness, the prototypicality of modesty, and the self-presentational styles of narcissists. Her research has been published in leading international journals including Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. She has also served as a reviewer for a number of journals, including Group Processes and Intergroup Relations and Social and Personality Psychology Compass.
