About the Book

The Courtneys meet the Ballantynes in this epic African adventure from one of the world's most celebrated novelists Queen Victoria's reign is in full flourish, her Empire expanding and her colonies stretching across the globe. In Africa, the land proves rich with minerals, and the trading companies continue to cross the seas and grow. On the banks of the river Nile, two families meet: the Courtneys and the Ballantynes. Both influential, powerful, and determined to dominate, their encounter provides the background for Wilbur Smith's dramatic and powerful novel. It is Wilbur Smith at his masterful best.

Tim Pigott-Smith is highly respected for his work on stage and screen and is particularly well known for his role in the television series, The Jewel of the Crown. He had worked extensively in theatre for the Bristol Old Vic, the RSC and on Broadway in The Iceman Cometh. His film credits include Remains of the Day, Chain Reaction , Bloody Sunday, Alexander, Escape to Victory and Dead Man's Folly. His many television credits include North and South and The Vice.

Review :
Praise for "Blue Horizon: "The action starts quickly and builds throughout, leading to an exciting--and bloody--confrontation. Tim Pigott-Smith reads the tale as a tough adventure yarn but doesn't shy away from the romance between Jim and Louisa. Listeners who like adventure, historical or otherwise, will enjoy this chase on land and sea." --"AudioFile
