About the Book

Olefin metathesis has made remarkable strides at an incredible speed. The success of olefin metathesis as a synthetic tool is attributed to outstanding advances in catalysis and organometallic chemistry. The versatility of the metathesis reaction has been the key to attracting the attention of chemists with interests ranging from polymer chemistry to organic synthesis. This book contains articles and reviews of the achievements in this area of chemistry, written by the internationally recognised experts from academia and industry. It highlights developments of catalysts for stereoselective metathesis and catalysts with considerable functional group tolerance which have permitted the synthesis of novel materials. It also shows that these catalysts in addition to Ring Opening Metathesis Polymerisation (ROMP), Acyclic Diene Metathesis (ADMET), and Cross metathesis (CM) are now powerful tools for Ring Closing Metathesis (RCM) which has found many applications in the synthesis of natural products.
