About the Book

We have all known bondage in one form or another, we have all suffered plagues, and we all want to be free. In this sense, the biblical book of Exodus is not just the story of Moses leading the Hebrews out of slavery in Egypt 3,000 years ago... It is very much our story, too. The conflict between Moses and Pharaoh is our conflict - an inner struggle played out every day in our own hearts and minds. In From Plagues to Miracles, psychiatrist Robert Rosenthal offers a remarkable new understanding of Exodus in which Moses and Pharaoh represent dueling aspects of the human mind. Forget what you learned in Sunday school. Under Dr Rosenthal's keen interpretive lens, Exodus reveals itself as a travel guide for the spiritual seeker; and a road map for navigating the different stages of the spiritual journey - the rough terrain that stands between us and a direct, abiding relationship with Spirit.

About the Author :

He has been a student and teacher of A Course in Miracles since 1975 and has served on the board of the Foundation for Inner Peace since 1992. From Plagues to Miracles is his first work of non-fiction.

Review :
"The great Biblical stories are diamonds of consciousness with infinite facets of illumination. From Plagues to Miracles takes the story of Moses and gives it new light, deepening our understanding not only of Moses, but of ourselves. I highly recommend it." Marianne Williamson "From Plagues to Miracles made the story of Exodus come to life for me in a way that it never had before. I'm not an Old Testament guy, but still I found Bob Rosenthal's approach to Moses and Pharaoh to be most illuminating. I highly recommend this book, and I congratulate Bob for his unique contribution."Gary Renard, best-selling author of The Disappearance of the Universe "This book provides a provocative and spiritually insightful reading that will enrich any [Bible] study you do in your own life."Tikkun Magazine, Winter, 2013 "Robert Rosenthal uses the book of Exodus as a metaphor to skillfully illuminate the functions and dysfunctions of our minds and the ways to heal them and ourselves."Roger Walsh, M.D., Ph.D., author, Essential Spirituality, The Seven Central Practices to Awaken Heart and Mind "Dr. Rosenthal's From Plagues to Miracles recaptures the spirit of early Judaism by recasting [Exodus], the grand narrative of Judaism, as a working mythology for spiritual awakening."Rabbi Rami Shapiro, author, Rabbi Rami's Guide to God, Rabbi Rami's Guide to Forgiveness "Dr. Rosenthal transforms the ancient history of a people into a modern day metaphor for the organic, dynamic process of becoming spiritually mature individuals....On a personal note, I have known Dr. Rosenthal for over three decades. He was a close friend of Dr. William Thetford (the co-scribe of A Course in Miracles) and a regular visitor in the home I shared with Dr. Thetford after his retirement. Although Dr. Thetford is no longer alive, I feel certain he would take a "fatherly" pride in what Dr. Rosenthal has achieved in From Plagues to Miracles."Patricia Hopkins, co-author with Sherry Ruth Anderson, Ph.D. of The Feminine Face of God: The Unfolding of the Sacred in Women and with Drs. William Thetford and Gerald Jampolsky of Good-bye to Guilt.
