About the Book

'Hugely entertaining... has all the charm of many of Caine's screen roles - think The Ipcress File and The Italian Job... The action does not flag for a moment.... Told with Caine's trademark ironic humour, it's an old-fashioned delight' DAILY MAIL *** An explosive international thriller from the Hollywood legend and British icon Sir Michael Caine*** 'Excellent, with an old-school hero and a plot rich in twists and turns . . . Caine's debut is the thriller you hoped he'd write' SUNDAY TELEGRAPH DCI Harry Taylor has no respect for red tape or political reputations - but he's great at catching criminals. And all his unorthodox skills will be needed as an extraordinary situation unfolds on his doorstep: a metal box of radioactive material is found at a dump in Stepney, East London, but before the police can arrive it is stolen in a violent raid. With security agencies across the world on red alert, it's Harry and his unconventional team from the Met who must hit the streets in search of a lead. They soon have two wildly different suspects, aristocratic art dealer Julian Smythe in London and oligarch Vladimir Voldrev in Barbados. But the pressure is on. How much time does Harry have, and how many more players will join the action, before the missing uranium is lighting up the sky? Deadly Game is a compelling, fast-paced novel of international intrigue and twisting suspense from a legendary actor and British icon.

Review :
Excellent . . . with an old-school hero and a plot rich in twists and turns . . . It's impossible to read this book without imagining Caine as the deadpan Harry . . . This is the book most Caine fans would hope he'd write: well-crafted and idiosyncratic. Hugely entertaining . . . think The Ipcress File and The Italian Job . . . The action does not flag for a moment . . . Told with Caine's trademark ironic humour, it's an old-fashioned delight Thrilling Caine has a great ear for dialogue and his story zips along . . .There's bags of energy in this, and the denouement is a bonkers delight The novel is well-paced, building to a climax with some wrong turns, dead ends, and red herrings carefully planted along the way . . . [the] energy and drive make for a lively, page-turning read, peppered with some unexpected twists and turns. The highly theatrical denouement is startling, and Caine has done well to conceal certain secrets until the end Am impressively accomplished debut The fast-paced drama takes many twists in narrative, leaving you turning the pages in anticipation... With real edge-of-the-seat action, Deadly Game has a great feel of old-school heroics - and it proves difficult not to read some parts in Caine's distinctive Cockney accent Consistently absorbing The drama takes many twists . . . With real edge-of-the-seat action A remarkable debut by the 90-year-old British film star, who appears to draw from the language and drama of some of his movie hits such as Get Carter and Harry Browne . . . A fast-moving tale of international terror in which irascible DCI Harry Taylor must hunt down stolen radioactive material before it falls into the hands of ruthless criminals Couldn't be better With real edge-of-the-seat action, Deadly Game has a great feel for old-school heroics, and it proves difficult not to read some parts in Caine's distinctive Cockney accent His debut novel Deadly Game was published the month after he announced his retirement, which opens the door to a Gene Hackman-esque secondary career path with the potential to funnel his creative energies somewhere other than the bright lights of a film set
