About the Author :
Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864) was an American novelist and short-story writer. Noted for the dark romanticism of his tales, he is best known for works such as The Scarlet Letter and short story collections such as Twice-Told Tales. Walter Crane (1845-1915) was a British artist who became renowned for his work during the Arts and Crafts Movement and especially for his illustrations for children's books. A student of the artist and critic John Ruskin, he was also influenced by artists such as William Morris. As well as his work for children's titles, he also wrote poetry and produced designs for stained-glass windows.
