About the Author :
Peter Francis (Author) Peter has been developing and illustrating Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR) items for 25 years. In addition to authoring Galore Park's Non-Verbal Reasoning Study and Revision Guide, the NVR Workbook Age 8-10 and two sets of NVR Practice Papers in 2016, he has also written the 11+ Explained Guide for GL Assessment, the Letts Success Assessment Papers for NVR as well as 1000s of items for official 11+ NVR tests. He also develops spatial reasoning tests, which help to uncover innate 3D non-verbal skills leading pupils towards specific STEM studies. Peter has, for nearly 30 years, been an international seminar speaker and trainer delivering over 600 full day training courses and conference speeches to more than 30,000 delegates throughout the world on many different subjects. Peter has been a member of Toastmasters International where, during the 1990s, he won the coveted club, area and division humorous speech contests two years running, getting to the UK district finals where only commitments abroad prevented him from competing. He has a Diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming and has trained for Television and Radio presentation. Sarah Collins (Author) Having developed a number of large-scale structured learning programs for schools and private agencies over the past 20 years, Sarah has specialist knowledge of 11+ content and it's development over a variety of platforms. She has particular interest in developing assessments that are easy to access and enable children to learn from their mistakes. During this time she has co-authored a number of titles with experienced teachers, bringing a wealth of knowledge relating to how questions are structured in a wide variety of assessments. Chris Pearse (Author) Chris Pearse is a qualified Primary School teacher with many years of experience supporting KS2 pupils. In 2006 he founded a tuition company called 'Teachitright' to support pupils with their 11+ exams. Teachitright firmly believes students should enjoy their educational journey, and engagement is at the forefront of the tutoring business. Chris really enjoys writing challenging questions that help pupils become familiar with the different question types. In 2015 he wrote three verbal reasoning publications with Galore Park, which formed a comprehensive series of 11+ books. Alison Head (Author) Alison Head has been writing educational material for Key Stages 1 and 2 for 15 years and authored Galore Park's 11+ Verbal Reasoning Workbooks for ages 8-10 and 9-11. She has worked in learning support then teaching for 12 years and currently teaches English in a Further Education college. She has a degree in Film and Literature and is studying for a Master's Degree in Education. In her free time, Alison loves to be outside and is happiest exploring the beautiful Isle of Purbeck. She also enjoys reading and trips to the theatre and cinema. Steve Hobbs (Author) Steve Hobbs has been in teaching both Key Stage 1 and 2 since 1998, working in a variety of junior and primary schools in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Surrey. He has held posts in Mathematics, Science and PE. More recently, he moved into secondary teaching, teaching Maths, Religious Studies and an outdoors-based subject, Countryside and Environment, of which he is Head of Department. As well as being an examiner for Functional Skills Maths, Steve has also written questions for exam papers. He has written several publications, including two for Galore Park: 11+ Maths Practice Papers 1 and 2, for pre-test and independent school exams. When Steve isn't teaching, or doing maths activities, he enjoys running long distances, and taking part in some extreme events. He has a keen interest in travel and current affairs, and a love of the environment which he does his best to look after. Most of all, he loves spending time with his wife and two daughters. David E Hanson (Author) David Hanson has over 40 years' experience of teaching. He has been a member of the ISEB 11+ and 13+ Mathematics setting teams, and was, for a time, leader of the 11+ team. Fpr many years he edited the SATIPS Maths Broadsheet and contributed to and/or organised, conferences for SATIPS and IAPS. David has retired from teaching, but is still associated with the ISEB and is a member of the ISEB Editorial Endorsement Committee. Louise Martine (Author) Louise Martine has worked in the educational publishing business for over 19 years, during which time she has commissioned and published educational textbooks and revision guides for Years 3 to 11 in mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, study skills and geography. Louise's publications include Galore Park's 11+ Mathematics Revision Guide, Study Skills for 11+ and Rising Stars' Achieve Times Tables. In her spare time she is a prep-school governor with specific responsibilities for education and has contributed to many articles on how to prepare children for their exams. As a mother to four children she has a wealth of experience and insight into schools, teaching, learning and how to guide the various personalities through their school life, their revision, school exams, CE exams (still one child to go!) GCSEs, A level and university exams.
