All rights not granted by the above license are retained by the author. Abstract: Abstract This study is a case account on two teachers' use of ICT in the classroom in a local secondary school. The purpose of this study is to examine the two teachers' visions and understanding of ICT and how it can be used to support student learning. The objectives are to investigate the difficulties in the use of ICT in the classroom with regard to the two teachers' pedagogical practices and to recommend strategies to overcome the difficulties these two teachers faced. The findings indicate that though these two teachers acquired the basic ICT skills and perceived their roles mainly as facilitators guiding students to find out and develop knowledge themselves, they relied much on the use of computer software and peripherals for demonstration in teaching. Despite difficulties such as the lack of appropriate teaching software and heavy daily teaching workload, school culture, student background, and forms of school leadership also contributed to the two teachers' levels of pedagogical practice. To assist in resolving such difficulties, this dissertation proposes that a professional development plan with clear mission and goals as well as feasible strategies, such as arranging peer lesson observation to exchange ideas and practices and amending the entire assessment and evaluation policy of the school, would benefit the two teachers and others in the school. ii DOI: 10.5353/th_b3041559 Subjects: Education, Secondary - Computer-assisted instruction - Case studies High school teachers - China - Hong Kong
